Izola

Ancient houses scattered throughout the former island, a church with a bell tower in the middle, a lighthouse at the end of the cape surrounded by pine trees, an abandoned canning fish factory chimney, all these bear witness to vibrant yet tranquil life in this old fishing village

IZOLA MUNICIPALITY

There are no hills in the area of Izola (except the countryside), therefore this would be a perfect area for young families, as you will be able to do all your errands on foot and with a pram. It is only a few steps away from the beach, offices, health centre, playground, green park or shops. You will hardly ever need a car.

Izola, an old fishing town

Ancient houses scattered throughout the former island, a church with a bell tower in the middle, a lighthouse at the end of the cape surrounded by pine trees, an abandoned canning fish factory chimney, all these bear witness to vibrant yet tranquil life in this old fishing village. Seafood food lovers will be delighted with Izola as this is a town on the Slovene coast that has the best selection of fresh fish. Fish can be bought at fishmongers’ or straight from a fisherman at the pier. Izola offers all the basic amenities for a pleasant and satisfying life: beautifully landscaped coastal strip, accessible to disabled people as well, inviting us to jump into the sea or take a walk, pastry shops at the pier with lovely smell of fresh pastries and coffee, parks full of flowers and greenery, small grocery stores, a vegetable market, educational and training institutions. Izola habitants still cultivate an old habit to sit on the street in front of their house. During an afternoon siesta while walking through the streets you will be able to encounter well known Slovenian singer-songwriters who spontaneously play a guitar on their doorstep.

New part of Izola

In recent decades, many have come to recognize what the pleasant life in Izola has to offer. The city expanded to include Livada and Jagodje. Livada is a modern residential neighbourhood on the green outskirts of Izola. Views from the apartments point to the open sea or towards green hills. Jagodje is place with terraced and detached houses, which are only a short walk away from the popular beach of San Simon. Neighbourhoods are intertwined with the cycling path D-8, which will take you across vineyards and fruit orchards all the way to Croatia or Trieste. In the new part of Izola there is also an industrial zone, which is suitable for setting up business premises for different business activities.
